The town of Flam was incredibly picturesque, surrounded by mountains and deep fjords. It was amazing the fiord was so deep that a huge cruise ship was able to dock in the harbor. Unfortunately, over 2500 people on board made the town busy and it difficult to get train tickets for the railway. Clearly, it’s a tourist destination with many tourist focused shops. We enjoyed our lunch at a traditional brewery, decked out to be a Viking social place. The Flam railway museum was informative, we learned that it is 20 kilometers from Flam to Myrdal, the connection to Oslo. It gains huge elevation with 20 tunnels. It had amazing views and many waterfalls along the journey. Most amazingly it was built mostly by hand, between 1924 and 1944.
