Ait Benhaddou and the Desert

The following day we travelled through the Atlas Mountains to the dessert.  Along the way we met a snake charmer at one of the picture stops, he insisted each family member have their picture taken with his poisonous snake, determine to get a big tip.  We then continued to the ruins at Ait Benhaddou, a famous Ksar (fortified Berber village), this is a UNESCO world heritage site.  This was a wild fortress in the red desert with red buildings, many passageways and beautiful views across the desert, an important trading post stop between the dessert and Marrakesh. Reportedly the site dates back to the 17th century. Many films have used it as a set, including Game of Thrones, The Gladiator and many others.
